Questions and Answers
How many golfcourses are there in Brazil?
At the time of writing there are about 70 golfcourses in Brazil. The majority of these are found around Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
Are any new golfcourses being built in Brazil?
As far as we know there are about 50 new courses in planning or being worked on at the moment. They will soon be appearing as Projects in the Smabagolf Golfguide.
How many people in Brazil play golf?
Not counting tourists, there are estimates of around 25-30.000 people in Brazil playing golf. This number is rapidly increasing, but it is still very low for such a big country. Part of this is no doubt due to the fact that the majority of people living in Brazil does not earn enough to even pay for the equipment. Still, the numbers will rise much over the coming years.
Are they using sloping in Brazil?
Not at the moment. However, there are talks about sloping all courses, but that will probably take a couple of years after the decision has been made.
