PL Golfclub is located in Aruja, on the north side of Sao Paulo. Get on Rodovia Presidente Dutra, exit on km 199/Aruja, go straight through the little city; the club is exactly 10 km from the highway exit. Ask for directions in case of trouble, Aruja is a small city and everybody know "Pee Elee Golfe".

Heavily Japanese influenced, (as influenced that all postings in the club is dual language) this is a beautiful and well maintained golfcourse. 27 holes; The Pansy course, Lily Course, and Glory course. Unfortunately the sambagolf reporter team only had time to play the two latter, due to shortage of daylight. We will be back on a later occasion and play the Pansy as well, which is considered the easiest 9 holes.

 

Starting with the Lily course, a fairly easy 9 holes, with long up/down sloping fairways. Wide forgiving fairways, and fast true greens. Birdies come easy on the downsloping holes, 300+ yard drives as well. (Ever had a 100 yards of roll after touchdown ? Here's the place !)

Playing the Glory course as backnine, this brought some more water into play, and even slicker and faster greens. Some in fact true glassplates, a touch with the putter, and the ball rolls of the green ! Slightly more challenging, as many holes asks for controlled draws and fades to follow the fairways.

The course is playeable for all during the week, at a very reasonable greenfee. Not very busy during weekdays, which makes it a very enjoyable and quiet golfwalk. Activity picks up in the weekend though, and to play Saturday / Sunday it is required to be invited by a member to get on the course. A nice restaurant and panorama bar rounds up your round, on a golfcourse well worth to visit.

PS: PL stands for Perfeita Liberdade; translated Perfect Liberty. Those into religion knows :-)
