Teresopolis Golfclub was designed by Robert Trent Jones, and opened in 1937. Located in the highlands of Rio de Janeiro, close to 1000 m above sealevel, makes the climate comfortably fresh, especially in the summertime when the temperature reaches 40°C along the state of Rio’s ocean strip. The wintertime (June – November) calls for a sweater in your bag.

The 9 hole golfcourse features different tee-boxes for each round, making it possible to do 18 holes. Some holes even changes par between first and second round. On the nice fairways and between slick greens, you have to pass the Paquequer river that runs through the golfcourse just about 5 times per round, on 9/18 even two times on the same hole ! Old trees surrounds most fairways, and combined with the river these are the real challenge of Teresopolis golf course.

The club has a great old clubhouse, with a bar and restaurant to relax in after your game. If you stop by during wintertime, you will most probably also find the hearth with a warm and cosy fire, something you wouldn’t think possible 1 hour drive from Rio de Janeiro where you probably wore your shorts…:-)
