Petrópolis Country Club in Nogueira (1/2 hour to drive from Petrópolis) was originally built for the Portuguese royal family. Situated in approx 1.000 meters altitude, Petrópolis has a decent climate, chilly winters and bearable summer temperatures (in the lower 30ties)

A challenging 9 hole golf course, with water in play on 12 out of 18 holes. The course changes dramatically from front nine to back nine, although putting on the same greens. Many tee-boxes are so different from front to back that the hole changes par. A lot of climbing is also the trademark for this par 70 golf course, with many heavy elevated tee-boxes and greens. And speaking of greens, these have lately gotten a lot attention from the club, and must now be about the fastest in the state. And when most are quite sloped, well… Good speed control is a skill you don’t want to be without here.

Good locker rooms, café & bar facilities, playground for kids, pool area, etc., makes this course a nice weekend alternative to your everyday course.
