Buzios Golf Club & Resort is beautifully located in Buzios, which had its international tourism promoted when it was discovered by Brigitte Bardot in the early seventies. Downtown Buzios has many international hotels and an international cuisine, something for any palate to appreciate.

The course was designed by Pete & Perry Dye, and will easily be classified as a "links course". It is also often referred to as the most challenging course in Brazil, mainly due to the never-absent wind, and its heavy links rough. It will demand the best of you in driving accuracy, a real challenge with 40 kmh of wind in your face. But then on the other hand, when you turn and play downwind, you will find the most amazing driving distances you never imagined you had in your swing.

The greens are generally big, but most with severe punishment should you fail to hit GIR. Bunkers and water hazards are plentiful, maybe especially on the back nine where water is in play on six out of nine holes, with the Pete Dye signature island 17th as the most beautiful. Depending on the wind, you will hit anything from your sandwedge to your 7 iron on this hole.

Ladies (round - 4928 yards)
High handicappers 19 - 36 (triangle - 5688 yards)
Gentlemen 10 - 18 (halfmoon - 6248 yards)
Low handicappers 0-9 (Square - 6636 yards)
PGA (Pentagon - 7056 yards)
where the course changes dramatically on some holes depending on which tee you play from.

It is not necessary to make a tee time reservation, but in the weekends from 08:00 - 10:00 you may experience a couple of minutes wait to tee off. A full size driving range that can accommodate 30 players simultaneously will keep you busy until you can start your round. Rental clubs and golf carts are available, although the most common thing is to walk this great golf course. Credit cards are not accepted, only cash in R$ or US$, or local cheques.

And after your game ? Well, with 26 beaches to choose from, you're never far off a great place to relax, enjoy a Brazilian "Caipirinha" and brag about your great round of golf on Brazil's most challenging course...:-) A memory that will last for years and years to come.
